Say Cheese

Cole had his three month Dr Appt this week and weighed in at 14lbs 5oz and measured 25.5 inches in length... he is getting bigger each day and has become quite a little man.

The days have been flying by and it won't be long before he is a 16 year old teenager wanting to borrow the car... in order to capture these precious moments we have been taking a ton of photos recently.

In an effort to post them all we went ahead and put together a little photo montage.

Enjoy

3 Months Old

Who's 3 months old?

Cole is 3 months old today. The days and months continue to bring new experiences and milestones. This month Cole has become a true chatter box. He "talks" with great frequency and is always interested in vocalizing his feelings and has even started to giggle at his goofy folks. Cole has procured some amazing "Mime" skills. He has an extraordinary expressive face and we are often able to stay one step ahead of his mood swings based on his facial expressions. He has put together a great "pouty" look complete with sticking out his bottom lip and furrowing his brow... funny stuff.

Toby is due to go back to work in a few weeks so we have started taking Cole to "school" a few times a week for half days. This acclimates Cole to his new environment and helps ease into the separation from Mom (and Mom from Cole). It also allows JD to have some drive time with Cole on the way to work (Cole is going to the Sony Child Development Center). Cole does very well in the car, as long as there is constant motion which does not bode well or those gridlock mornings.

Overall, Cole is continuing to get bigger and stronger and never ceases to amaze us. He loves to sit up and observe all that is around him and seems eager to learn and accomplish new tasks.

Here is a shot from this morning

And a look back at 3 months

Cole's Big Weekend (San Diego Style)

Cole experienced his first big overnight trip away from home this past weekend. Saturday morning Cole and the folks packed up the ol' car and headed south down to San Diego to meet a whole slew of new friends.

Cole did very well on the drive down sleeping for the majority of the drive and only getting fussy when he was hungry and due to be fed. Saturday afternoon and evening were spent at a BBQ at the Scelfo's new house. A group of JD's college friends gathered to meet Cole and introduce him to his San Diego crew: Evan Scelfo, Mackenzie Burl, Natalie Cohen, Aubrey Sweeney and Tyler Magnuson.

Below are some video highlights of the day.

After a very good night sleep, Sunday morning brought the return trip up the 5 freeway during which Cole shocked his mom and dad as he managed to sleep the ENTIRE DRIVE HOME... 2 1/2 hours. Guess he was still worn out from a full day on Saturday.

A great weekend was had by all and another trip won't be far off.

Great Auntie Pat

Cole's Great Aunt Pat came to visit him this past week from Northern California. Cole heard some great stories from his Dad's childhood including how he got a permanent bump on his lower lip while playing Superman. While attempting to leap tall buildings with a single bound, clumsy dad slipped while trying to jump off his Aunt Pat's metal trunk and busted his lip open... good times.

Cole had a busy week this past week so be sure to check back for more.

Hats

Cole has got himself a bunch of hats. Which if you know anything about his father's history makes perfect sense. You see.. his Pops went through a bit of a phase while he was younger whereby he wore a Kansas City Royals.... pause for laughter.... hat all day, every day for about 3 - 4 years from about 4th grade through Jr High. No explanation... just the way it was.

Since Cole has so many hats we decided to put on a bit of a fashion show highlighting his array of head wear featuring bucket caps, beanie caps, duckie caps, monkey caps and a wide assortment of hats with ears (his mother's favorite).

Enjoy

An Evening with Friends

Last Sunday eve, Cole was able to gather with a few of his lady friends to take in a college football game. It was a pleasant night with four couples and three babies. Keep in mind, that this is the same foursome that was known to party well into the night just one year ago... now with 3 children all under 1 year old joining the party the good times had to come to a halt just as the sun was going down... everyone out the door by 8:30pm.

Times... they are, in fact, a changin or to be more accurate... have changed.

Here are a few shots of Cole with Rian Ford (middle) and Gaby Shiffman (right). Cole was diggin on sitting in the "Bumbo" chair.

And a shot of Cole in his new Dog PJ's

Happy Boy

Cole has fallen into a bit of a routine now... not that Mom and Dad anticipate this to be a long term routine, but for now we will take what we can get. Cole, who prior to this past week was not a napper, is now taking 2 or 3 30 min naps per day which gives us a few min to catch our breath. Cole is also now very alert and looking to be entertained while awake. He is interested in all that he can see and talks about what is going on in his mind with great fervor.

We have put together a video that shows some of his conversation skills along with his new fondness for sitting up (with less and less neck wobble).

All the while, Dad continues to experiment with different editing tricks and features.

Enjoy

Family Tree

This post has been a long time coming... kept getting delayed but is finally here. A few weeks ago Cole was able to spend some time with his Oma, his Aunt Carol and meet his first cousin, once removed (Cole's Cousin Blair's daughter) Elaine. Elaine is now 15 months old and quite a beauty.
