Welcome to Summertime

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summertime and in order to welcome in the new season the entire Black family headed up to see their good friends Chris, Linda and Sammy Nehls... luckily they have a pool and EVERYONE got to go swimming.

Cole did very well with his first experience at the pool and while he enjoyed the time in the water with dad he loved his time in a jet ski floater / raft. He motored all around the pool with the help of Mom, Dad and Sammy.

And when we say that EVERYONE got to go swimming... we do mean EVERYONE. Click below to watch some highlights from the day!!!

Due to the file size of the video I have embedded a flash player. This may be the way to go moving forward as I have heard feedback that some folks can't see the windows media videos. The quality won't be as good in flash but who are we kidding... we aren't showing these on a 55 inch HD flat screen :)

11 Months Old

11 Down and 1 to Go!

Cole is 11 months old today and heading full speed towards the one year mark. This past month, Cole has been taking all the accomplishments of months past and improving on them.

He is now a master at "crusin" (walking with the help of a static object - couch, table etc). Mom and Dad have been placing objects at the opposite side of the table or couch in an effort to make Cole "work for it". :) In a feat that seemed unfathomable a month ago, Cole seems to have actually increased his crawling speed. While he is not quite pulling off a 4.4 40, he could very well be approaching the land speed record in the under 1 year old category. Leave a door open, a remote control near the edge of the table or Cooper, the dog's food within reach and Cole will be there in mear seconds. Lucky for us, Cole gets excited when heading for whatever it is he desires and starts to laugh and verbally express his excitement as he turns on the afterburners which tends to blow his cover, once he goes stealth we will all be in trouble.

Other milestones for the month include the addition of the wave hello / goodbye, the long awaited "high-five" (which makes Dad so happy), as well as, the appearance of Cole's top two teeth (4 1/2 months after the first two came in Christmas day). Cole has also completed the full transition off of baby food and on to real food. He really enjoys chicken, grilled turkey melts and as we recently discovered LOVES Enchiladas.

We are now counting down the days to Cole's first birthday and continuing to enjoy every day we have with him!!

As always... here is the updated look back at 11 months

Country Boy

A few weeks ago Cole and his folks headed out to the Underwood Family Farms to celebrate Quinn Stephens' 2nd Birthday.

Cole was able to go on his first hay ride, pet his first horse, feed other farm animals to include goats, llamas and pigs. He was also able to go on his first official train ride... didn't get very far but he and dad had a nice trip.

All in all, Cole had a great time.

The end of a busy weekend

Cole had himself a busy weekend. On Saturday, he attended his first Kentucky Derby party and was able to spend the afternoon with his good friend Rian (of Puppy Party fame). Cole and Rian had a great time interacting with each other and exploring a home not occupied with children and therefore featuring lots of "fun" items located low to the ground. By the time the afternoon was over, the main room had had some significant interior design work done via the kids.

On Sunday, Cole and his folks attended yet another birthday party (Cole has quite the B-day social schedule). This party took place at a farm where the kids could see and feed the animals, take a hay ride and perhaps add a bit of hitch to their giddy-up. Video to come soon.

After such an active weekend, Cole was pretty tuckered out and as bed time neared he simply climbed up on top of the "softest" thing he could find and crashed out. Here are some shots of where he ended his fun filled weekend.
