Mack the Knife

A Beautiful Birthday

Last weekend the family packed up the car and headed south to San Diego in order to celebrate Mackenzie Burl's first birthday.

Cole had not been to San Diego since his first trek back in September when both he and Mackenzie looked a little different.

Now, both have surpassed the one year mark and are having the time of their lives. Cole had a great time in the park where the party was held. He was able to stretch is legs and practice his long distance walking and hang with his SD crew.

A great time was had by all!

Below are the video highlights from big event.

First Haircut

A little off the top

Cole's hair, as of late, has been a little on the wild side. While Cole was "rollin" with his au natural doo and fitting in well with the So Cal beach culture, the instances of people starting to mistake him for a little girl were increasing.

So after waiting almost 13 months to get his first haircut, Cole took the plunge.

It was not his favorite activity.

But the end result was wonderful.

Thanks to the amazing Jana who has been taking great care of Toby's hair for some time. She was extremely patient and comforting both to Cole and his stressed out parents.

Walk Hard

This one has been a long time coming.

Shortly after Cole started walking with the help of a push card or chair he threw caution to the wind and set off on his own to master the two foot shuffle without the comfort of a safety object. After some trial and error, battles with balance and several tumbles to the floor, Cole seems to have found his rhythm.

Here is the long awaited video of Cole walking.

Paparazzi

Cole is normally very open to having his picture taken. So much so that he probably sees flashes in his sleep. However, everyone has their limits.

I think towards the end of his birthday weekend, after 3 consecutive days of having his picture taken, Cole had had enough.

Presenting the ever photogenic Cole Black

A Moment With Dad

More parties, More cake, More pictures?

The Solution... New Roadster

To be honest... not sure what was up with "the face" other than the fact that he has recently "discovered" his tongue and often likes to show it off to his friends... but normally without the complementary presentation.

B-Day Boy Part Two

House Party

Part two of Cole's Big Birthday Bash Weekend features the kids party held at the house with a special musical guest from Fundementals of Music. Cole and the other children sang, danced and played the drum as they enjoyed the afternoon.

Kids were able to do some painting and play in the bounce house. Overall it was a great day.

Kudos to Cole's Mom for putting it all together.

Below are the video highlights from the day.

B-Day Boy Part One

Party School

Now that we have had a week to reflect, we can look back and see that Cole had one heck of a fun filled birthday weekend. Nana and Pop Pop came in from Arizona, Great Aunt Pat came down from NorCal and friends from all around came to Burbank for a wonderful gathering.

It all started on Friday where Cole and his buddy Aiden celebrated thier one year birthdays at school. All the teachers, parents and classmates headed out to the yard area for a big celebration.

Below is the part one of Cole's Big Birthday Bash Weekend
