Go Fly A Kite

Ready to Fly

Last week while shopping for birthday presents for his friends upcoming parties, Cole stumbled upon a really cool Star Wars: Clone Wars box kite.  Cole had never flown a kite before and it had been years since his folks had tried to get anything up in the air but that seemed like more of a challenge than a problem.

So with some family time scheduled for Sunday morning they loaded up the family truckster and headed out to Malibu where they knew of a beautiful open grass area at Pepperdine Alumni Park and figured a nice breeze may be coming in off the ocean.

Expecting a work out to get that thing in the air both Mom and Dad were shocked when it simply rose out of their hands and continued to climb with little effort.  Everyone had a turn at flying the kite and the entire experience was a blast.  We can't wait to head back!!

Here is a short video of our fun kite flying adventure.

Cole's Big Day

Getting a bit behind on the ol' blog posts recently but as we say... onwards and upwards... or as someone says at least.

So... back at the beginning of April, Cole had himself one heck of a day.  First of all, he won the Peace Builder Student of the Month with the word being "Honesty".  This follows up his recent win for the Playground Good Sport Award that he received in March!

Both Momma and Casey were lucky enough to be there to see the exciting event and were able to get it on video.

That very evening Cole and his classmates were invited to the School Board meeting and were able to speak to the members of the board and Cole was able to present the President of the School Board a thank you gift for coming to speak to the class earlier in the semester.

Cole and  his classmates did an amazing job speaking to the board and luckily for us it was broadcast on the local access channel and posted on the Burbank Unified School District website.  You can view the stream by clicking here and selecting the April 5th 2012 Meeting

Here also are a few pics of the handsome boys at City Hall

All dressed up and ready for the show

Presenter Cole

It is hard to believe that Cole will be finishing up Kindergarten in just two short weeks and will be heading in to Summer break ready to be a 1st grader next year... yikes time is flying by!
