Under Construction

Cole is working on rounding out his noggin! He has what is technically known as plagiocephaly. Basically, it means he has a slightly asymmetrical head (a flat spot). It isn’t too severe but without treatment it could potentially cause some problems later on.

The solution is a "band" that fits around his head... kind of a really light-weight partial helmet. He’ll wear it all day for 2 to 3 months at which time it will have gently reshaped his head. In order to make the band, the physical therapist had to take a cast of Cole’s head. A bit invasive to the patient, but Cole was a trooper and came through with a smile in the end.

Two weeks after casting, Cole had his band and he’s now wearing it around the clock for the next couple months while it works its magic. The end result will yield a head that even Charlie Brown would be jealous of!

Here is a video slideshow of the process.

Cole

What a trooper you are while your band was being made. Mom and Dad said you were wonderful. Pop Pop and I am proud of you! I don't think we will call it a band, but rather a "crown" because you are a "prince"!!!!!
Love Pop Pop and Nana
